The US Patent and Trademark Office announced today that its draft strategic plan for fiscal year 2010-2015 is available for public review and comment online. The aim of the strategic plan is to focus on patent and trademark quality and enhance the timeliness of both, and to provide “global and domestic leadership to improve intellectual property policy, protection, and enforcement worldwide,” according to a USPTO release.
To reach those objectives, the plan identifies eight strategic priorities, such as to improve the quality of patent and trademark examination, demonstrate global leadership in all aspects of IP policy development, improve information technology infrastructure, and implement a sustainable funding model for operations.
Written comments can be sent to strategicplan@uspto.gov by 26 July. The plan is available on the USPTO website.

“To the patent office: just get it done.”
