UN Panel On Access To Medicines Extends Deadline For Contributions

The United Nations High-Level Panel on Access to Medicines has announced that the deadline for the submission of stakeholders’ contributions has been extended to 28 February 2016. The panel also lifted restrictions on the number of contributions authors can submit.

The previous deadline for contributions was 18 February (IPW, Public Health, 1 February 2016) and (IPW, Public Health, 5 February 2016).

According to the panel, the extension of the deadline follows feedback from “several partners.” During the presentation of the High-Level Panel in Geneva at the end of January, a representative from the pharmaceutical industry had remarked on the short time allowed for submissions.

The panel is calling for contributions from “all related stakeholders in, but not limited to, government, the private sector, research institutions, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, legal experts and patient groups that address the policy incoherence between international human rights law, trade rules and public health objectives.”
